For its fourth World Cup appearance, Algeria aims to progress beyond the first round for the first time in its history. While the challenge is daunting for the Fennecs, it is not insurmountable. To ensure that the Algerian team is well-prepared, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has made significant efforts, including selecting a suitable training base in Sorocaba, located 100 km from Sao Paulo, Brazil’s largest city. The choice of this location was influenced by specific criteria.
According to reports from the newspaper O Globo, the FAF’s decision to choose Sorocaba was motivated by the availability of “halal” food for the Algerian team. The delay in formalizing the choice was due to the need to verify compliance with Muslim dietary requirements, particularly in terms of food. All food consumed by members of the Algerian delegation during their stay in Brazil must be certified as “halal.”
