Coton Sport de Garoua achieved an important victory on Sunday afternoon against Petro Sport of Angola in the first leg of the round of 16 of the African Football Confederation Cup (CAF). Didier Gomes Da Rosa’s team secured a 2-1 win against the Angolans, setting the stage for the return leg scheduled for April 27, 2014.
Following this victory, the coach of the Garoua club expressed confidence in his team’s ability to advance in the competition.
“This victory fills us with ambition. We have every reason to be hopeful. We witnessed a strong performance from the Cameroonian team. Despite being down to ten men, we managed to win against a tough Angolan team,” he stated. However, he also expressed concerns about the refereeing decisions: “There are issues to address in this regard. I believe the refereeing team could have handled the situation better. Despite finishing with ten men, I am proud of my boys’ overall performance.”
