The highly esteemed Italian coach, Fabio Capello, has announced his intention to retire from the football scene in 2018, coinciding with the conclusion of his contract with the Russian Federation.
Capello, renowned for his expertise and respect in the football world, revealed on Monday that his tenure as head coach of the Russian national team would mark the end of his illustrious career. With his contract set to expire in 2018, Capello emphasized that he has no plans to pursue another coaching challenge thereafter.
“I will be 71 years old, and I believe it will be an opportune time to bid farewell,” Capello conveyed to the Russian news agency R-Sport. “My role as Russia’s coach marks the culmination of my coaching career. I aspire to emulate Alex Ferguson, who retired at 72; I will step away a year earlier.”
Having coached at the highest echelons of football since 1991, Capello boasts an impressive resume, including 5 Scudetti, 2 La Liga titles, and 1 Champions League trophy.
