The ongoing dispute between FECAFOOT (Cameroon Football Federation) and the Ministry of Sports regarding the appointment of the new coaching staff for the Indomitable Lions continues to escalate. In a bid to reclaim control over the selection process, FECAFOOT has issued a stern ultimatum, setting the stage for a potential clash with the ministry.
During an ordinary session held on Saturday, April 6, the executive committee of FECAFOOT unanimously denounced the appointment of the coaching staff for the men’s A selection of the Indomitable Lions, citing a violation of existing regulations.
As a result, the committee has called upon the president of FECAFOOT to submit new nomination proposals within a strict timeframe of 72 hours.
“In a unanimous decision by the members present, the Emergency Committee has recommended to the President of FECAFOOT to present to it, in accordance with the provisions of Decree No. 2014/384 of September 26, 2014, and Article 40, Paragraph 11 of the FECAFOOT Statutes, proposals for the nomination of members of the management structures of the National Football Selections within seventy-two (72) hours,” read the official press release issued after the meeting.
The directive from FECAFOOT sets the stage for a potential standoff between the federation and the ministry, underscoring the deep-rooted tensions surrounding the selection process for the coaching staff of the Indomitable Lions.
The conflict highlights the importance of adhering to established procedures and regulations in the governance of football in Cameroon.
As the deadline approaches, stakeholders are closely watching the developments, anticipating the resolution of this contentious issue that has gripped the nation’s footballing landscape.
