FRANCE: DOUBLE SCORER, SERGE GAKPÉ AND NANTES FURTHER PUSH VALENCIENNES

Valenciennes is facing a dire situation as they seem destined for relegation to Ligue 2. Following Ajaccio’s relegation by Bastia, Valenciennes’ fate appears sealed after their humiliating defeat against Nantes, with a final score of 2-6. Ariel Jacobs’ team failed to deliver on their home turf, resulting in a disastrous outcome for the northern club.

The match started promisingly for Valenciennes when Johan Audel opened the scoring in the 24th minute. However, Nantes quickly turned the tide, with Bedoya and Serge Gakpé adding two more goals before halftime. Gakpé continued his onslaught with another goal early in the second half, marking his 6th goal of the season. Despite efforts from Medjani and Bahebeck to reduce the deficit to 4-2, Medjani’s own goal only compounded Valenciennes’ woes, culminating in a final blow delivered by Banel Nicolita.
