Marcelo Bielsa might not be coming to Marseille, as reported by Africa Top Sports.com. His name has been circulating as a potential successor to José Anigo, who has been serving as interim coach at OM since the departure of Elie Baup.
Aged 58, Bielsa has been without a contract since leaving Athletic Bilbao at the end of the previous season. He gained renown for his achievements, notably winning the gold medal with the Argentinian national team at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004.
However, Bielsa is currently contemplating an opportunity in Morocco, the host country of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in 2015. This challenge is particularly enticing as Morocco is determined to make a strong showing in the tournament.
Bielsa has an impressive coaching pedigree, having managed Argentina from 1998 to 2004 (reaching the final of the Copa America and winning Olympic gold in 2004), and Chile from 2007 to 2011 (leading them to the round of 16 in the 2010 World Cup).
Additionally, it’s rumored that his profile has drawn interest from national teams such as Paraguay and Greece.
