Standard Liège managed to salvage a draw on their home turf against Lokeren on Thursday evening during the 4th day of the play-offs in Belgium. Despite trailing 2-0 after a double from Harbaoui in the 44th and 64th minutes, the Rouches came back thanks to goals from Batshuayi in the 68th minute and Mujangi Bia in the 86th minute.
Paul-José Mpoku expressed his disappointment after the draw at home. “One point, whether away or at home, is not sufficient for us, considering our objectives,” declared the Standard midfielder of Congolese origin during an interview with Voo Foot. “We needed to secure all three points. The positive aspect was the mentality we displayed in the second half. We need to maintain the same attitude in Bruges. Reacting instead of taking the initiative is frustrating. It bothers me, it bothers us. We need to address this internally. If we aim for the title, we must demonstrate it from the beginning, not just in the second half.”
Despite the draw, Standard remains at the top of the standings with one point ahead of Bruges and two ahead of Zulte Waregem.
