FIFA, the International Federation of Association Football, remains embroiled in controversy. Brazilian newspaper O Globo has disclosed the amount paid for the rent of the president’s accommodation during the 2014 World Cup.
Sepp Blatter was slated to stay in an apartment owned by the former Brazilian football star Ronaldo, in exchange for a hefty sum of 50,000 euros for the duration of the competition. This exorbitant price has drawn criticism from anti-World Cup activists in Brazil, especially as protests persist in major cities across the country.
Interestingly, this residence has previously accommodated FIFA executives. During the Confederations Cup the year before, FIFA’s secretary general, Jérôme Valcke, occupied the same space.
