Issa Hayatou is currently in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). As the organizer of the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations, the country, under the leadership of President Joseph Kabila, warmly welcomes the head of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Hayatou is set to meet with the Congolese Prime Minister, Augustin Matata Ponyo.
The agenda for their discussions revolves around two main topics. Firstly, they will address the DRC’s candidacy for hosting the 2019 senior Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). Secondly, they will discuss the logistical details necessary for the successful execution of the U-23 CAN, scheduled for December.
