“This is our clear objective! We need to secure these three points to almost guarantee our position. It would also help us regain momentum because we haven’t had many wins in 2014. We must react positively at home this Saturday to secure our place and move closer to the upper half of the table,” explains Kevin Monnet-Paquet, midfielder for FC Lorient, on Evian’s official website.
Since the announcement of Christian Gourcuff’s departure, Lorient, now in 13th place, have struggled. With only three goals scored in their last five matches, including two from penalties, the Bretons have endured a difficult period in the second half of the season.
“It’s true. We were 7th or 8th at the break, thanks to a strong run of five victories in six matches. However, in 2014, despite playing well, we haven’t been able to convert performances into points. Matches against Monaco or Valenciennes come to mind, where we deserved wins instead of draws. This is why we find ourselves in our current position. It’s frustrating because I believe we could have done better, but our shortcomings have brought us here,” reflects Monnet-Paquet.
