FC Barcelona has been dealt a significant blow by FIFA, receiving a ban on player recruitment for the Blaugranas for the next two seasons. The sanction stems from violations of regulations concerning the transfer of minors.
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee found FC Barcelona guilty of transferring 10 players under the age of 18, breaching international rules on the matter. As a result, the club has been fined 450,000 Swiss francs. Additionally, FC Barcelona has been given 90 days to rectify the situation of all minor players involved. The Spanish Football Federation, RFEF, was also implicated and sanctioned in this matter.
