At the 14th stage of the Gabon national football championship, a temporary halt is looming. Club owners have collectively decided to suspend the championship temporarily. Their demand? State subsidy, which has been pending for almost six months. Despite attempts to engage with authorities on the matter, no resolution has been reached.
“This is a cry for help directed at the highest authorities of our country, urging them to find a swift solution,” expressed Bosco Alaba Fall, president of the association of first division clubs, in remarks to the daily Union.
With the championship mandated to conclude by May 25, this enforced break due to the lack of subsidy threatens to disrupt the schedule.
