As reported by Africa Top Sports.com, there were initial indications of potential contact between Cheikhou Kouyaté and Borussia Dortmund. The German club, looking to bolster its squad, has been active in seeking reinforcements during the winter transfer window. However, recent developments suggest that the Senegalese international defender, currently playing for Anderlecht, might be considering a move to Russia instead.
Two Russian clubs, Zénit Saint-Petersburg and Anzhi, the latter featuring Samuel Eto’o and Lacina Traoré, are reportedly interested in signing Kouyaté. The 22-year-old defender is currently under contract with Anderlecht until June 2013.
While acknowledging the interest from other clubs, Kouyaté has expressed a commitment to completing his ongoing mission with Anderlecht. He mentioned that he does not intend to leave in January, emphasizing that his departure is planned for the upcoming summer. Kouyaté is focused on fulfilling his responsibilities with Anderlecht, including an upcoming Champions League match, before considering any potential move.
