After more than four months of interruption, the Togolese Division 2 (D2) football competition is set to resume next weekend. The decision was made by the Executive Office (BE) of the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) after a meeting with the last six clubs competing for the championship.
The competition will adopt a cup format, with the six clubs playing home and away matches. After these matches, the three winners and the best loser will form a final four to compete in the semi-finals. The D2 final is scheduled to take place on December 30.
The interruption of the competition had raised concerns about financial resources, but Gabriel Améyi, the president of the FTF, has promised a subsidy of 1 million CFA francs for the home and away matches for each of the six clubs participating in this phase. Additionally, each club qualified for the semi-finals will receive 500,000 CFA francs, and the winner of the championship will be awarded 1 million CFA francs, while the vice-champion will receive 500,000 CFA francs.
The six clubs competing in the resumed competition are Anges de Notsè, Odalou de Kanboli, Gbikinti de Bassar, Tigre Noir Zéphyr de Lomé, Gbohloesu d’Aného, and Agouwa de Koussountou.
The schedule for the matches (first leg on December 2; second leg on December 9):
- Anges vs. Odalou
- Gbinkinti vs. Tigre Noir
- Gbohloesu vs. Agouwa
The semi-finals will take place on December 16 (first leg) and December 23 (second leg).
