Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) may soon have a new coach for its national football team, the Leopards. The position has been vacant since the departure of Claude Leroy in June 2013, and despite a call for applications being open for several months, the selection process has been challenging.
According to various local media reports, the Frenchman Jean-Michel Cavalli is currently the frontrunner for the position. Aged 57, Cavalli has a wealth of coaching experience primarily in France, where he has managed clubs such as Lille, Nimes, and Gazelec d’Ajaccio. In addition to his domestic career, he has also coached internationally, leading the national teams of Algeria (2006-2007) and Wydad Casablanca in Morocco.
It’s worth noting that Jean-Michel Cavalli has also applied for the position of coach for the Togo national team.
