Issa Hayatou expressed his sorrow at the passing of Euloge Adadja, a 33-year-old Beninese referee. Adadja passed away on March 20 at the Ouémé Hospital Center in Porto-Novo, Benin, after experiencing discomfort following physical tests conducted as part of an international FIFA refereeing course.
In a message of condolences addressed to the president of the Beninese Football Federation, Augustin Ahouanvoébla, Hayatou conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the family and loved ones of the deceased. He expressed deep sadness at the untimely death of someone so young, who was dedicated to his passion for football and refereeing.
The loss of Euloge Adadja is mourned not only by his family and friends but also by the wider African football community, as noted by Issa Hayatou, the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
