Algerian Sports Minister Mohamed Tahmi has announced the intention of his department to involve sports stakeholders in the management of new sports infrastructure currently under construction in the country. The aim is to engage “serious partners capable of sharing with the administration the task of managing these assets,” said the minister. He emphasized that it would be “inadmissible to ask sports clubs to rent infrastructure as we would rent party halls.”
Algeria is undertaking an extensive program to build a sports complex in each daïra (group of municipalities) across the country. Minister Tahmi stressed the importance of having structured sports clubs and a well-organized sports association movement. This is seen as crucial for ensuring the preservation of these facilities and their effective utilization in the right direction.
The involvement of sports stakeholders in the management of sports infrastructure reflects a collaborative approach between the government and the sports community in Algeria. This approach aims to foster sustainable development, effective utilization, and proper maintenance of the sports facilities being constructed.
