TOGO-FESTIFOOT: THE TOURNAMENT FOR THE INTEGRATION OF DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES LAUNCHED

Ndzie123 300x225 1

The 6th edition of the Festifoot integration tournament in Togo is set to be larger than ever, with 10 teams participating compared to 9 in the previous year. This tournament, organized in celebration of Togo’s independence day on April 27, aims to bring together foreign communities residing in Togo in a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship.

Anatole Onana-Ndzie, the president of the organizing committee, emphasized the importance of fair play and fraternity during the tournament. He called upon community leaders to encourage their members to focus on playing the game rather than causing problems, highlighting the friendly and non-competitive nature of Festifoot.

The participating teams have been divided into two groups. Group A consists of Cameroon (the defending champion), Gambia, Media FC of Togo, Chad, and Guinea Conakry, while Group B includes Ivory Coast (last year’s finalist), Burkina Faso, Gabon, Morocco, and Kanis International (the second team from Togo).

An innovative aspect of this edition is the introduction of two chickens, addressing complaints about direct elimination. The tournament format will involve around 20 to 40 matches, leading up to the semi-finals and the final scheduled for April 29, 2014, at the Municipal Stadium of Lomé.
