This tournament brings together national under-21 teams from around the world, providing a valuable test for Nigeria as part of its preparations for the under-20 World Cup.
Nigeria, as the current holder of the CAN (African Cup of Nations) under-20 trophy, aspires to qualify for the under-20 World Cup scheduled to be held in Turkey from June 21 to July 13, 2013. To secure a spot, Nigeria needs to reach the semi-finals of the CAN tournament in Algeria in March. In the previous edition, the Flying Eagles were eliminated in the quarter-finals at the World Cup in Colombia.
The Toulon Festival is set to take place from May 29 to June 7, 2013, providing a platform for teams to showcase their talents and gain valuable experience ahead of the World Cup.
