In the ATP tournament in Miami, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga made a strong comeback with a convincing performance, securing a spot in the third round against his compatriot Mannarino with a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Tsonga dominated the match, breaking early in both sets and taking advantage of Mannarino’s numerous unforced errors. Reflecting on the match, Tsonga acknowledged his opponent’s lack of resistance but credited his own solid performance.
“It’s true that there wasn’t really a match. He quickly let me take off, and that gave me a little confidence. Better for me. But if he didn’t get into the match, it’s because I didn’t let him. Can we take some bearings after a match like this? Yes. I was solid on serve, I varied a lot,” Tsonga remarked.
The victory marked a recovery for Tsonga after his disappointing defeat against Benneteau in Indian Wells, showcasing his resilience and determination on the court.
