After securing a vital win against ETG last week (0-1), Valenciennes has reignited their hopes of avoiding relegation. Tongo Doumbia expressed optimism about their chances, stating, “We’re getting closer to the exit. The group is happier because we all feel that we are getting closer to maintaining. We can do it.”
Doumbia credited much of their recent success to striker Majeed Waris, whose addition has bolstered the team’s offensive capabilities. “He brought this percussion, this depth to the game that we lacked,” Doumbia said, praising Waris’s finishing abilities and impact on the team’s performance.
Currently sitting in 18th place but only two points behind ETG, Valenciennes understands the importance of securing a victory against Ajaccio to climb out of the relegation zone. Doumbia emphasized the need for focus and determination, cautioning that Ajaccio won’t be an easy opponent despite their position in the league table.
As they aim to secure a crucial victory, Valenciennes will rely on their collective effort and newfound confidence to secure their place in Ligue 1.
