After his first book, “My Black Stars,” was published in 2010, Lilian Thuram will be present at the Book Fair from Friday, March 21, until Monday, March 24. The former defender of the French national team, who retired from the field in 2008, is the subject of a newly released comic book titled “Our Story,” which hit shelves on Wednesday.
Inspired by his initial work, this comic book serves the same purpose as the foundation of the 1998 World Cup champion: educating against racism. The narrative begins in 1980 and follows Thuram’s journey, particularly highlighting his arrival in France with his mother and four siblings.
“The publishing house Delcourt proposed this adaptation of ‘My Black Stars’ to me. I accepted because it’s a natural continuation that allows us to reach another audience, especially children,” Thuram shared. He is also known for advocating against the inequality between women’s and men’s football.
