2014 WORLD CUP: IVORY COAST DENIES ANY BONUS AGREEMENT WITH PLAYERS

Despite media reports revealing purported bonuses for the Ivorian national football team at the 2014 World Cup, the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has stepped forward to refute such claims. In an official press release on its website, the FIF denies having reached any agreements with players regarding bonuses.

“The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) expresses astonishment at the publication of information in the national and international press regarding match bonuses allegedly promised to players of the National Selection A for the ‘Brazil 2014’ World Cup,” the statement reads.

The FIF clarifies that discussions have been ongoing to finalize the budget for the team’s participation in the upcoming World Cup. A recent working session involving the Ministry for the Promotion of Youth, Sports, and Leisure, as well as the FIF, addressed these matters. However, the budget is still pending validation by the local government.

This stance aligns with a tweet from Alain Lobognon, the Minister of Sports, expressing his intrigue and emphasizing that the government has not yet validated any bonuses.

#Mondial2014 the Elephant Bonuses announced correspond to the amounts paid in 2006 and 2010. The #GouvCI has not yet validated anything. #Ci225
