Despite initial expectations of a severe punishment for Vincent Kompany, the Manchester City defender’s suspension has been reduced upon review by the disciplinary committee.
Originally facing a longer ban, Kompany will now only miss one match, the upcoming fixture against Fulham. This means he will be eligible to play against Chelsea and Arsenal.
Kompany was sent off during the match against Hull City for a foul as the last defender on Jelavic, which left him visibly frustrated. His reaction included making a gesture towards the opposing fans and kicking a wall with his studs, an action that was caught on camera.
