Jacques Anouma, the former president of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), has expressed his discontent with Radiodiffusion Télévision Ivoirienne (RTI), the national television broadcaster, for airing Ivorian championship matches without compensating the Federation and the clubs for broadcasting rights. Anouma criticized RTI for spending significant sums to broadcast club competitions from other continents while neglecting to pay for the rights to broadcast domestic matches.
He highlighted the disparity in treatment, noting that RTI invests substantial resources in broadcasting foreign competitions while neglecting to support the local championship financially. Anouma emphasized the importance of promoting the Ivorian championship and suggested that RTI’s failure to do so contributes to the financial struggles of local clubs.
Anouma also defended the quality of the Ivorian championship, asserting that it is of a high standard and comparable to championships in other African countries. He urged RTI to recognize the value of local football and to prioritize the promotion of domestic matches to ensure the financial sustainability of Ivorian clubs.
