Under contract with the New York Red Bulls since 2010 after his departure from FC Barcelona, Thierry Henry reached a milestone during a recent Major League Soccer (MLS) match against the Colorado Rapids. Henry, the Frenchman renowned for his time at Arsenal, scored his 42nd goal for the New York Red Bulls, making him the second-highest scorer in the club’s history.
During the game, Henry found the back of the net in the 57th minute, marking his first appearance in the 2014 MLS season. His goal propelled him to second place in the list of top scorers for the New York Red Bulls, just behind Colombian forward Juan Pablo Angel, who holds the record with 58 goals.
Despite Henry’s achievement, the match ended in a 1-1 draw, as the Colorado Rapids managed to equalize with a penalty from Vincente Sanchez in the 72nd minute at the Red Bull Arena. Reflecting on the result, Henry expressed disappointment but maintained composure, emphasizing the need to improve in the upcoming matches.
“The draw is a fair result. Colorado played well, and we didn’t do enough to secure the victory. However, there’s no need to panic. We’ll need to step up our game next week against Chicago. We’ve been in similar situations before, as we experienced at the start of last season,” remarked Thierry Henry after the match.
