BERNARD CASONI: FIRED FROM THE AUXERRE BENCH! A NEW FAILURE AFTER TUNISIA!

Bernard Casoni, once a Marseille glory as a player, has now found himself without a coaching position as he has been relieved of his duties as the coach of Auxerre.

This morning, he was suspended from his role, marking another setback for the coach who had previously been dismissed from Club Africain in Tunisia. Auxerre’s current position in Ligue 2, sitting 16th and just one point above the relegation zone, likely contributed to this decision.

The club is expected to announce the appointment of either Landry Chauvin or Jean-Luc Vannuchi as Casoni’s replacement, with further developments to follow.

As a player, Casoni enjoyed numerous successes with Olympique de Marseille, including winning the French Division 1 title in 1991 and 1992, as well as the Division 2 title in 1995. He was also part of the Marseille team that won the Champions League in 1993, although he did not play in the final. Additionally, he reached the final of the European Champion Clubs’ Cup in 1991 and the Coupe de France final in 1991.

Transitioning to coaching, Casoni achieved notable success with Évian Thonon Gaillard, winning the National Championship in 2010 and the Ligue 2 Championship in 2011. He was honored with the UNFP Trophy for best coach in Ligue 2 in 2011. Despite these accolades, his recent coaching stints have been marred by disappointments and dismissals.
