Jordanian King Abdullah II conferred the Silver Jubilee Medal on Monday, upon members of the national football team “Al-Nashama” and its technical staff, led by Moroccan coach Hussein Amotta.
The honoring of Al-Nashama, as reported by the Jordan News Agency, comes in recognition of their outstanding efforts in securing second place in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, hosted by Qatar.
During a reception at Al-Husseiniya Palace, King Abdullah II praised Al-Nashama’s exceptional performance in the Asian Cup and the high ethical standards demonstrated by the team’s players.
He expressed his support for them as they embark on the journey to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, the Jordanian national team will host their Pakistani counterparts in Amman as part of the fourth round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
Currently, Al-Nashama holds the second position in Group Seven with four points, level with Pakistan.
Saudi Arabia leads the group with nine points, while Tajikistan sits at the bottom of the table.
Following the second round of matches, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia and proceed to the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
