FIFA has reason to celebrate. On Wednesday, it initiated the first phase of international ticket sales for 60 out of the 64 matches of the upcoming World Cup in Brazil, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
According to a press release issued by the global football governing body, a staggering 203,330 tickets were snapped up within the first five hours. Unsurprisingly, Brazil leads the pack with the highest number of tickets sold, totaling 143,085. The United States follows closely behind with 16,059 tickets purchased. Australia, Colombia, and Argentina also feature prominently among the countries with significant ticket sales.
It’s worth noting that this initial phase includes all matches except for the opening match, the semi-finals, and the final.
