Serge Nyuiadzi may not be widely known, but he is a standout player in the Lithuanian championship, particularly with Zalgiris Vilnius, where he clinched the championship title last year. As the new season kicked off last weekend, the Franco-Togolese midfielder shared his ambitions with Footafrica365.
“Every competition we enter, we aim to win it. We’ll approach each match step by step, striving to defend our titles as effectively as possible and hoping to retain them by season’s end. Regarding the European Cup, we won’t focus on it until this summer. Last year, we fell just short of the group stage in the Europa League. This season, our aim is to reach that level, whether it’s in the Champions League or the Europa League.”
Nyuiadzi also addressed a topic of interest to Togo Eperviers supporters: the recruitment of binational players by the Togolese Football Federation (FTF). Nyuiadzi expressed his personal interest in representing Togo, extending a direct invitation to Emmanuel Adebayor: “Playing for the Togolese national team? It’s definitely a personal goal. Right now, I’m focused on my personal development and club objectives, but it’s certainly something I aspire to. If I continue performing well and stay in good shape, there’s no reason why it couldn’t happen.”
Zalgiris commenced their title defense successfully by defeating Siaulai 3-1 on the opening day of the championship, with Nyuiadzi contributing a goal to the victory.
