Since March 4th, we’ve been informed about Franck Dja Djédjé’s departure from the Odessa club due to the political situation in Ukraine. The Ivorian striker has now found himself without a club. He shared his experience in Ukraine in an interview with Le Team on Monday.
“Before the return match against Lyon, the sporting director, accompanied by his lawyer, gathered us to discuss the club’s concerns. We were presented with three options: staying in Ukraine and training at our own risk, as the club disclaimed any responsibility, going on vacation without pay and waiting for a potential call back, or terminating our contracts amicably and leaving freely,” revealed Brice’s brother, a player for Olympique de Marseille.
“When I watch the news, it doesn’t reassure me. In Odessa, there are many pro-Russian sympathizers, and there have been demonstrations, sometimes with neo-Nazi elements. It’s becoming increasingly concerning,” added Franck, who is currently training with the Nice reserves. There are discussions about potential opportunities in Ligue 1 for the former Grenoble player.
