Paris Saint-Germain defender Alex sparked criticism from advocates for LGBTQ+ rights with his comment, “God would have created not Adam and Eve, but Adam and Yves, for example.” Several weeks later, the Brazilian player revisited the topic, expressing discomfort with homosexuality.
In an interview with the Swedish daily Expressen, Alex, while stating he is not homophobic, reiterated his belief in traditional heterosexual relationships. He asserted that a man should be with a woman and vice versa, deeming anything else “abnormal.”
“It’s not homophobia, but I simply don’t agree that it’s normal for a man to live with a man or for a woman to live with a woman,” explained Alex. Standing by his viewpoint, he emphasized that his comments reflect his personal beliefs, acknowledging that others are entitled to their own perspectives.
“If you don’t agree with me, that’s no problem,” he added.
