It’s the end of the road for Togolese clubs in the African Cups. Following Anges’ exit from the African Champions League two weeks ago against Enyimba of Nigeria, AS Douanes faced a similar fate on Sunday in Egypt against Wadi Degla, losing 0-2. After a 1-1 draw in Lomé, the odds were stacked against the Togolese side.
The task became even more challenging after Ahmed Adel scored for Wadi Degla just 23 minutes into the game. Despite their efforts to regain momentum, AS Douanes couldn’t find a breakthrough. In the second half, Abdulfatah Agha secured the win for Wadi Degla with another goal.
Wadi Degla will now advance to face Djoliba in the next round. The Malian side qualified after defeating Don Bosco from DR Congo with an aggregate score of 2-1 (1-0, 1-0).
