As Saint-Etienne’s left-back Faouzi Ghoulam is expected to represent his country of origin, Algeria, in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). Ghoulam reportedly gave his agreement to join the Fennecs for the tournament. He had a meeting with Cyril Lemoine, who is Vahid Halilhodzic’s special correspondent, to discuss his potential role in the Algerian team. Ghoulam had previously agreed in principle to play for Algeria but wanted assurances from the coach. With Algeria facing injury issues with their internationals, Ghoulam’s inclusion could provide a solution for Vahid Halilhodzic.
