Belgium is set to host Ivory Coast in a friendly match, and coach Marc Wilmots has taken to Twitter to urge Red Devils supporters to show respect during the Ivorian national anthem at the King Baudouin stadium.
In his tweet, Wilmots expressed gratitude for the sold-out stadium and called on fans to create a positive atmosphere while also emphasizing the importance of respecting the opposing team’s national anthem.
This isn’t the first time Wilmots has made such a plea. He previously urged supporters to show respect during the national anthem ahead of a match against Scotland in Glasgow during World Cup qualifying.
The reminder comes after some supporters booed the French anthem during a friendly match against France in August 2013. Wilmots’ message underscores the significance of sportsmanship and respect for all teams involved in international matches.
