“We will assess the situation at the end of the season. I’ll have a discussion with the President. If he brought me here and I haven’t scored a goal, I don’t see why he would extend my contract. The responsibility lies with me. It’s up to me to step up and make the best decision for myself,” Hoarau stated in an interview on the official Girondins website, addressing club supporters.
The former PSG center forward, keen to open his goal account for Bordeaux, also elaborated on the reasons behind his decision to sign only a short-term contract.
“When I spoke with the President over the phone, we didn’t delve into all the details. I simply expressed, ‘I want to find a club, I want to play football again. Whether it’s for six months, one, or two years… we’ll figure it out later.’ My primary focus was to lace up my boots again, step onto the pitch, and score goals. I wanted to rediscover the joy of playing football. We reached an agreement on that,” he explained.
Despite his aspirations to contribute more goals, Hoarau is yet to score for Bordeaux. If this trend continues, his chances of remaining with the club next season become uncertain.
