PAPE DIOUF: “OM WILL BE SOLD IN THE MONTHS OR YEARS TO COME”

The potential change in ownership of Marseille, a renowned club in French Ligue 1, has been a topic of discussion, particularly after similar developments at PSG and Monaco. Former Marseille president Pape Diouf addressed this matter on RMC, outlining the conditions under which such a transition could occur.

Diouf emphasized that the decision ultimately rests with Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, the current owner of the club. He stressed that she must be willing to sell for any change in ownership to occur. Diouf subtly hinted that if an opportunity to sell did arise, it might be prudent for Louis-Dreyfus to consider it.

He suggested that if a potential investor from Qatar or Monaco were to express interest, Louis-Dreyfus would likely recognize the potential for Marseille to thrive under new ownership. Diouf implied that maintaining the club’s current trajectory might become increasingly challenging compared to embracing the opportunity for growth with new investment.

Despite the absence of any concrete offers from investors at present, Diouf remains confident that an interested party could emerge in the coming months or years. However, he reiterated that Louis-Dreyfus’s consent would be crucial for any such transaction to proceed.

In essence, while the prospect of a change in ownership for Marseille remains speculative, Diouf believes it is a possibility that could materialize in the future, contingent upon Louis-Dreyfus’s willingness to entertain offers from potential investors.
