Following moments of tension between Vahid Halilhodzic and the president of the Algerian Football Federation, Mohamed Raouraoua, the situation has been resolved, and they are now back on good terms. Raouraoua confirmed this on Wednesday during the ordinary general assembly of the federation.
According to Raouraoua, he and Halilhodzic have reached agreements regarding Algeria’s participation in the upcoming World Cup, including the objectives to achieve, the preparation plan, and the working method leading up to the competition. He emphasized that they are in perfect harmony regarding these matters.
The rift between them stemmed from comments made by Halilhodzic last December, where he expressed pessimism about Algeria’s chances at the World Cup. Raouraoua was displeased with these remarks and urged Halilhodzic to decide on his contract extension.
However, Raouraoua now assures that the past tensions are behind them, and they are focused on the upcoming World Cup. Regarding Halilhodzic’s contract extension, Raouraoua stated that he has prepared contingency plans if Halilhodzic chooses not to extend his contract after the World Cup, but for now, they are not considering that scenario.
Overall, the situation has been resolved, and both parties are committed to working together for Algeria’s success in the World Cup.
