Togolese international Farid Zato has made a move to Thor Akuereyri, a club in Iceland’s first division, as confirmed on Thursday. Zato, formerly with Togolese Dynamique, was on loan at Vikingur Olasvik, but now he’s set for an 8-month stint with Thor Akuereyri.
Initially targeted by Icelandic champions KR Reykjavik, negotiations between Zato and KR Reykjavik didn’t yield a deal, leading him to opt for Thor Akuereyri instead.
While awaiting his work permit, Zato will return to Lomé before joining his new team for the start of the championship on May 4th. This move marks his third season in Iceland after initially joining HK Kopavogur in the second division before his loan to Vikingur Olasvik.
Zato’s experience and contributions from the previous season will likely be valuable additions to Thor Akuereyri as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
