Scoring six goals against your opponent in the round of 16 of the Champions League is no small feat, but that’s exactly what the Real Madrid players accomplished on Wednesday evening against Schalke 04. It’s a performance that certainly pleased Merengue coach Carlo Ancelotti.
“I am satisfied with everyone because it was a perfect match. My players showed great solidarity and played well. Everything clicked for us. The three attackers all scored and played perfectly for their teammates. Our attacking trio is very dangerous,” suggested the Italian tactician at a press conference.
Despite the significant advantage gained from the big away victory, Ancelotti remains cautious about the return leg. “We must show respect for our opponents and their supporters. There is still a second leg to play, and football can be unpredictable at times. The advantage is substantial, but we must still approach the second match with focus and determination.”
As a reminder, Madrid’s six goals were scored by Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, and Karim Benzema, with each of them bagging a brace.
