Between Patrice Evra and Luis Fernandez, the feud seems to have come to an end, paving the way for genuine reconciliation. This turnaround was hinted at during their recent appearance on RMC radio.
The conflict between the two escalated when France was gearing up for the 2014 World Cup playoffs. Patrice Evra, in an interview with Téléfoot, launched scathing remarks at several pundits, including Luis Fernandez, whom he famously referred to as “Luis Fernandel” to express his disdain.
However, during their RMC interview, Evra and Fernandez seemingly buried the hatchet, playing out a scene of reconciliation. Evra clarified that he had already privately addressed the issue with Fernandez, expressing mutual respect. He acknowledged Fernandez’s significant contributions to the French national team, while humorously noting that Fernandez had an advantage over him in terms of achievements.
Evra also acknowledged that his strong attachment to the French jersey sometimes led him to react too strongly. He emphasized his personality of speaking his mind and vowed to remain true to himself.
