Boubacar Sanogo, the Ivorian international footballer, has emerged victorious in his legal battle against Saint-Etienne, a French Ligue 1 club. Sanogo had filed a claim against Saint-Etienne amounting to 7.7 million euros, citing “career damage” resulting from his dismissal from the club in February 2012. Despite his relatively modest performance during his tenure at Saint-Etienne, with 30 matches and only 1 goal scored, Sanogo pursued compensation for the alleged harm to his career.
In a ruling by the Saint-Etienne industrial tribunal, the club was ordered to pay Sanogo a significantly reduced sum of 909,000 euros. This amount includes 606,000 euros for outstanding wages owed to Sanogo at the end of his contract with Saint-Etienne, along with an additional 303,000 euros awarded for the moral damage caused by his premature termination.
Sanogo, currently playing in the German second division for Energie Cottbus, can now find solace in the resolution of his legal dispute with his former club.
