Former footballer David Ginola has made a surprising move into local politics by joining Thierry Gobino’s list for the upcoming municipal elections in Saint-Maxime, Var.
Thierry Gobino, an independent candidate, views Ginola as an invaluable asset for Sainte-Maxime’s communication efforts, describing him as “an exceptional communication tool.” Ginola, aged 47 and a native of Sainte-Maxime, brings both local roots and celebrity status to the campaign.
This isn’t Ginola’s first foray into local politics; he previously supported Bernard Rolland, the former mayor, in the 2008 elections. Rolland is once again running for mayor in the current election cycle.
