Kenya’s national football team, the Harambee Stars, has removed Aboud Omar and Eric Johanna from their squad following an altercation that occurred early Thursday morning. The incident unfolded just hours before the team’s departure for Lilongwe, Malawi, where they are scheduled to participate in the Four Nations tournament.

Aboud Omar and Eric Johanna, both seasoned players for the Harambee Stars, were involved in a physical altercation, leading to their exclusion from the national team camp, according to reports from Mozzart Sport.

Details surrounding the altercation remain unclear, with the reasons behind the dispute yet to be disclosed.

However, tensions escalated to a point where the players were unable to defuse the situation, prompting the intervention of team officials.

Consequently, head coach Engin Firat made the decision to dismiss them from the squad in the early hours of the morning, prior to the team’s departure for Malawi.

According to an anonymous source close to the team, the altercation turned physical, resulting in both players being unable to maintain control of their emotions.

Efforts were made to diffuse the situation, but ultimately, Omar and Johanna were removed from the team.

The incident has cast a shadow over the team’s preparations for the upcoming tournament, with Harambee Stars now forced to regroup without two key players.

Despite the setback, the team proceeded with their travel plans, arriving in Lilongwe earlier in the afternoon.

Kenya’s Harambee Stars are set to kick off the Four Nations tournament against hosts Malawi on Saturday, March 23.

The exclusion of Omar and Johanna adds an unexpected twist to the team’s campaign, leaving questions about the squad’s cohesion and performance in the tournament.
