In a thrilling encounter at the Cairo International Stadium, Al Ahly secured their 6th African Super Cup title by defeating CS Sfaxien 3-2. Despite the absence of their legendary playmaker, Mohamed Aboutrika, the Egyptian club showcased their prowess on home soil.
Al Ahly took the lead in the 22nd minute with a goal from Gedo, setting the tone for an intense battle. As the game progressed, the cautious defense of Sfaxien allowed Amr Gamal to extend Al Ahly’s advantage. However, Sfaxien quickly responded as Ali Maaloul converted a penalty to keep the Tunisian side in contention.
Undeterred, Gamal found the back of the net once again in the 53rd minute, further asserting Al Ahly’s dominance. Despite Sfaxien’s efforts to claw their way back into the match, they could only manage to reduce the deficit with a well-taken goal from Ben Youssef.
In the end, Al Ahly’s resilience and clinical finishing proved decisive as they held on to secure the victory until the final whistle, clinching yet another African Super Cup triumph for the Egyptian giants.
