Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus forced to forfeit matches against Nigeria and Uganda

Ghana’s preparations for their upcoming friendly matches against Nigeria and Uganda have been disrupted by the unfortunate absence of midfielder Mohammed Kudus due to a shoulder injury. While the return of Tariq Lamptey adds a positive note to the squad, Kudus’ withdrawal comes as a blow to the Black Stars.

Initially named in the squad for the friendlies, Kudus, who currently plays for West Ham United, has been sidelined due to ongoing discomfort in his shoulder.

The decision was confirmed by Ghanaian media sources, highlighting the player’s unavailability for the crucial fixtures.

“Kudus has been suffering from shoulder discomfort since the Premier League match played last weekend between West Ham and Aston Villa,” revealed a source close to the Black Stars, as cited by media outlet 3Sports.

Despite completing the full 90 minutes in the recent encounter against Aston Villa at the London Stadium, Kudus experienced discomfort post-match, prompting concerns over his fitness.

While he was not listed among the West Ham players scheduled to join their national teams for the international break, the decision to prioritize his recovery underscores the severity of the injury.

Kudus’ absence poses a challenge for Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, as he finalizes his squad for the upcoming friendlies.

The midfielder’s dynamic presence and technical ability will be sorely missed in the midfield, requiring Addo to explore alternative options to maintain the team’s competitive edge.

As Kudus remains in London for treatment, the Black Stars will be tasked with adapting to his absence and rallying together to face formidable opponents in Nigeria and Uganda.

With the international break fast approaching, Ghana’s resolve will be tested as they seek to overcome adversity and deliver strong performances on the pitch.
