2014 WORLD CUP: TICKETS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR IVORIANS

Supporters Ivoiriens 300x200 1

It’s unfortunate to hear that many Ivorian supporters are unable to afford tickets to attend the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. With only 50 tickets available to them, out of the originally announced 200, the cost of attending the tournament is prohibitively high for many.

The president of the National Support for Elephants (CNSE), Perfect Kouass, has highlighted the significant financial burden faced by Ivorian supporters, with the cost of a ticket amounting to eight million CFA francs (approximately 12,000 euros). This steep cost makes it unfeasible for many to travel to Brazil to support their national team.

In contrast, there has been significant mobilization among Algerian supporters, with a large portion of the reserved tickets already sold. This discrepancy underscores the challenges faced by supporters from different countries in accessing tickets for major international sporting events.

The CNSE’s appeal for support from those able to help ensure that Ivorian supporters can be present to cheer on their team is understandable. Every nation’s supporters deserve the opportunity to stand behind their team on the world stage, and efforts to make this possible should be encouraged.
