Djene Dakonam, the Togolese international, has returned to Coton Sport in Cameroon after a stint attempting to pursue a European football career. Dakonam, who impressed during Togo’s campaign in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, considers Coton Sport his club and is eager to make an impact.
Having undergone trials at various clubs in Europe, including Lens in the French Ligue 2, as well as clubs in Belgium and Germany, Dakonam decided to return to Coton Sport, signing a six-month contract until June.
Despite the time away from the field, Dakonam is motivated to make the most of his return and has already featured in two matches for Coton Sport in the Cameroonian championship under the guidance of coach Didier da Rosa Gomes.
With the support of his agent, Nicolas Onisse, Dakonam is hopeful that his performances with Coton Sport will attract further opportunities in Europe after his current contract expires.
