After Zamalek’s recent loss against arch-rivals Al Ahly in the Republic Championship (U-18) on penalties, writer Medhat El-Adl revealed insights from his conversation with Portuguese coach Jose Gomez on the sidelines of the match.
Speaking on the “Zamalkawy” program broadcasted on Zamalek TV, El-Adl disclosed details of his dialogue with Gomez regarding the team’s lineup instability, stating, “I spoke with Gomez and inquired about the lack of consistency in the team’s formation.
He told me that he needs time to prepare the players.”
Elaborating further, El-Adl remarked, “Gomez assured me that he relies on the most prepared players.
I find him to be a good coach with a humble personality, willing to listen to all opinions.”
Addressing specific player roles, El-Adl mentioned, “I emphasized to Gomez that Abdullah El-Said would be more beneficial if he played as an attacking midfielder rather than in the center of the field.
His response was that El-Said is an excellent player, and the team’s structure is being built around him along with Mahmoud Shikabala.”
Concluding his remarks, El-Adl noted, “Gomez observed the U-18 match to identify standout performers for the team and made some notes during the game.”
