Amid swirling rumors of his departure from the Egyptian national team camp due to injury claims, Hussein El Shahat, a key player for Al Ahly, has provided clarity on the matter, dismissing speculations of evasion from national duty.
Several Egyptian media personalities and football figures, including Rida Abdel Aal and Khaled El-Ghandour, had accused El Shahat of shirking national team responsibilities under the guise of injury.
However, a source close to El Shahat revealed to Koora (Football): “The rumors surrounding El Shahat’s alleged departure are baseless.
Al Ahly issued an official statement disclosing the player’s injury, corroborated by the national team doctor who clarified his condition.”
The source elucidated further, stating: “Hussein El Shahat sustained an injury during a national team training session, necessitating five days of rest, rendering him unfit for training, let alone matches, during this period.”
It was emphasized: “Hossam El Hassaan inquired about El Shahat’s well-being post-injury, to which the player affirmed that the final decision rested with the national team coach.
In light of this, El Hassaan opted to grant the player a period of recuperation to prevent aggravating the injury, benefiting both the player and his club.”
Concluding the clarification, the source asserted: “Had El Shahat not been injured, Hossam El Hassaan wouldn’t have permitted his departure from the camp.
The player’s inclusion in the upcoming match against Simba SC following the conclusion of Egypt’s friendly tournament is routine, as he is currently undergoing specialized preparation.
There is a distinct disparity between post-injury rehabilitation and regular training regimes.”
